Essence of Lightning is an Ability in Death's Gambit. Abilities are special skills that can be performed depending on the Weapons you have equipped (much like Dark Souls 3). Ability use consumes Soul Energy, that you get from performing specific actions based on your Class. They are used strategically due to the soul energy they consume. In order to gain access these abilities, they must first be obtained and learned. Abilities are obtained by either learning them from Sorun's talent tree, obtained from NPCs, or found in various areas.
Essence of Lightning Information
- Type: Ability
- Cooldown: 1 sec
- Effect: Create a floating lightning orb. Attacking with a tome weapon causes all floating elemental orbs to combine to create a unique attack.

Elemental Combos
Elemental orbs such as Essence of Lightning can be combined with other elemental orb spells to create unique attacks with different properties.
| Combination | Result |

| 1 Essence of Lightning | Shoots a chain of lightning that locks onto the closest enemy for roughly 1 second, if the enemy dies while still active, it will lock onto the next enemy. This can be improved to reduce casting time and strike one more time with the Lightning Mastery Talent.

| 2 Essence of Lightning |
Strikes the closest enemy with a strong strike of electricity. This can be improved to give the player a buff that increases all lightning damage by 20% for 20 seconds with the Lightning Power Talent.

| Essence of Lightning + Essence of Fire | Creates three orbs of lightning that orbit around the player. When an enemy touches an orb it takes damage, then the orb disappears.

| Essence of Lightning + Essence of Darkness | Gives the player a buff for 13(?) seconds that gives the player passive soul energy generation and a 100% increase in stamina regeneration.

Essence of Lightning Tips & Tricks
- Upgrading the Haste stat as well as equipping Armor and Auras that affect Haste will decrease the cooldown time of abilities.
- When cast alone deals moderate ranged damage to the enemy closest to you.
- When cast with another lightning orb deals high amount of damage to the enemy closest to you.
- When cast with a fire orb creates 2 rotating orbs around you.
- When cast with a dark orb gives a stamina regen buff of 100% for 10 seconds.
